Do I ‌need to be a start-up to apply?

Accepted Answer

No, all ideas are welcome, whatever stage you’re at, as long as your idea has some connection to sustainability. We want to support and encourage small businesses of the future that want to help reduce their environmental impact.

Question 2

How does Njord Nest review ‌applications?

Accepted Answer

After your idea is submitted, Drivhuset and Vista will review the applications and narrow down the submissions based on several factors like idea potential, viability, sustainability impact and the motivation of the entrepreneurs. Those that have the most potential to match our start-up criteria will be interviewed by Drivhuset. Based on these interviews the top (up to) 20 start-ups will  be selected to participate in the Njord Nest program.

What does the program courses consist of?

The start-up program consists of 8 sessions revolving: Sustainable value creation: How to identify strategies and practices that contribute to a more sustainable world while also driving shareholder value.
 Ideation: The creative process of generating new ideas.
 Business models: A company's core profit-making plan.

Segmentation: How to divide your target market into approachable groups based on demographics, needs, interests, and more.
 Value proposition: Create a marketing statement that summarises why people should buy your product or service.

Business pitch: Learn to pitch your startup to potential investors or your products to potential customers.   The sessions last approximately 3 hours each and will be spread across a 13-week period. The class also includes coaching and consulting sessions designed to help you develop, pivot and optimize your idea. Please note that all communication will be in English.

What is the final pitch?

After completing 7 sessions and working closely with our experts, you’ll be ready to present your start-up idea to the Njord Nest panel of judges. This will be your opportunity to convince our panel of judges that your business idea can be successful – and a way to help build a sustainable future.

Question 5

How are the winners decided?

Accepted Answer

Once all of the contestants have presented their final pitches, the judges will examine and discuss each idea carefully before voting to select the 3 winning start-up ideas.
